New Stainless Steel Cookware - Any tips?

I just bought a Kitchenaid set of cookware. It's very highly rated and very pretty. I have never used stainless steel before (always used non-stick). Any tips? I've heard that it's best to cook on low or medium because the cookware heats quickly.
