I'm about to bake my first pie

I need guidance, what's the best pie plate to make the crust in? I have tin and glass and I'm wondering if glass is the better one to go with, so I can see as it bakes and when it's done. Are there ANY tips as to this project I should know too? It's my 1st pie from scratch, if you knew my age, you'd die laughing!!
