Let's DISCUSS: Judith Ripka late April 2016 mini visit--what are you getting/interested in?... :)

Hello Ripkanistas, just a quickie here.  How has everyone been?  We are going out to breakfast and then seeing "Purple Rain" (Prince's 1984 film) so will be a little late for the show (this visit: 4-6PM Eastern Standard Time; 1-3PM Pacific Standard Time).

It will be emotional seeing the film again (DH has never seen it).  Such a terrible loss...  I will be wearing purple gems in honor of Prince--the organic Amethyst cuff, JR had on Lunchtime Special last week.  It took a couple of tries but I got an OK one.  It seems like all the amy stones had fissures, so I decided it worked with the organic design.  Also, Judith's clearance huggie amy hoops with the E-W oval design.

Hope everyone is well.

Is anyone interested in the new One Day Only Ripka Estate ring or cuff?  Take care~Peach

Hi Peachie,

I remember seeing Purple Rain when it came out.  What a shame -- he was such a talented man.

I kind of like the estate ring but I'd like to see it presented.  Hoping for something in a genuine gemstone, though.

Hope you are doing well!

Hi LuckyPeach and Sammycat!  Nice to see you both.  The board sure is quiet these days.  I certainly agree on the tragic loss of Prince (and he was one of the very few celebs who chose Minnesota for their residence).  He was a man of irreplaceable talent.

LuckyPeach, you sound beautifully decked out, and I'm tickled to hear you got a great amythest cuff.  I love the size and beauty of that piece.  I adore the wide cuffs - they have so much presence.

I've picked up a few lunchtime specials (mostly earrings) and also picked up the Onyx bead necklace (J327383) on clearance.  I have my eye on J327379 the Diamonique drop earring (1 3/4") but have another similar Judith earring so will likely pass on it at this time. It sure is fun to mix and match the jewelry, and I am always looking for great "layering" pieces (at the rght price of course!)

Enjoy the shows ladies!

Hello Sammycat!

Seeing "Purple Rain" again today was like time-traveling back to the mid-80s; so many memories flooding back and a reminder of one of the greatest talents to ever grace a stage.

From what I could tell via internet research, Prince needed a double hip replacement as a result of his concert dancing and leaps from stacked up equipment, going back to the early 90s.  However, he avoided this due to his Jehovah's Witness belief of avoiding blood transfusions.  It looks like he finally gave in to the surgery about six years ago, though the pain continued to his passing.  It would be an easy trade to avoid the dancing and leaps and keep the music, if he only knew what the future would bring!!  Could he have been convinced?  We'll never know.

I was a tree-climbing risk-taking tomboy until 6th grade when I was permanently sidelined (a personal decision).  I was running up to and spinning around to land on the back of an old car when I split my knee open on the tail light.  My best friend, brother and myself stared in shock as my knee cap was briefly visible before the blood came rushing.  A visit to a specialist and full-leg cast convinced me to stop the shenanigans or end up crippled.

I think Prince's moves were an outgrowth of the music, but the price he paid was too great in my opinion.  Sigh.

How did you decide on the Estate ring?  I've been too bad with all of the JR LTS of the past few weeks.  I do like the coin cuff, though....hmmmm...

Hope you are OK, too!  Take care~Peach

{{{Littleone}}}~My sincere condolences on your loss as a Minnesotan, arguably the most famous resident (with respect to Jessica Lange, Hubert Humphrey, Paul Wellstone, Bob Dylan, Walter Mondale) .  I can tell you one of Prince's most perfect quotes:  "Why do you live in Minnesota?"  "The cold keeps the bad people out."   I love that one!  And today when I saw "Purple Rain," it gave DH a big laugh when Prince told Appolonia that she needed to go through an initiation and "...be purified in Lake Minnetonka."  He grew up in Wayzata and still has some traces of the accent.  Such a terrible loss.  I haven't been this sad about losing a celeb I followed from the beginning since Michael Jackson.  It just seems so very wrong.

Thanks for the kind words on the organic "Prince" cuff.  It is pretty great, if you accept the organic nature.  I wish they had the right price on that one from the beginning and also were honest that the fissured Amethysts went with the organic design; it would've been a much better seller.  Judith's cuffs have been my weakness from her first appearance on the Q.  I agree totally about the mixing and matching, one of my very favorite sports!  Haha.  I'm always searching for a fair price, both here and Over There (major auction site).

Enjoy your latest JR designs. I have the Onyx necklace on Waitlist.

How are you doing?  What is happening?  Hope everything is OK.  Again, my condolences.  Take care~Peach

@LuckyPeach - hey Peachy!  I didn't buy anything but have the pink diamonique ring on my WL.  I wore the amethyst bangle from the A-D bangle sets from years ago in remembrance of Prince.....that's my only purple ....not a purple person....what a loss......cool days in SoCal....so glad .....the heat just kills me!
