Peyton will not steer you wrong.

He talked me into a large London Blue topaz in sterling a couple years ago by saying it didn't have any of that grey cast so prevelant in this stone.  He was right and that ring is one of my favorites.  So when he says something on air or in print I believe him.

I have maybe 6 or 7 London Blue rings and non have a gray cast.  I think that would be very unusual, and I've never seen one that does.

Depglass, I know exactly what you mean.  I've acquired many london blue pieces over the years and have had to send back quite a few...they get a "steel/gray" blue cast to them, which indicates the treatment didn't take completely.  A graduate gemologist, Peyton knows what he's talking about.
