When I was in high school, my grandmother, who lived in Western Colorado, discovered bookends in a small rock shop near the Colorado-Utah state line.  This area is a geological paradise.  They had bookend made from really cool rocks found in the area.  I got some made of petrified dinosaur bone.  For years,  for every giftable occasion, we all got bookends.  I hardly have books anymore.  I guess they can hold up my Kindle.

I don't have any bookends. Not a fan.

I have a turquoise mermaid bookend set that I love but no books in it right now.

I love this.  I have something similar on the bookcase in my bedroom.  My inspiration was a photo very much like this one that I saw a few years ago.

Lots of cute ideas here.  :-)

I have a huge number of books. There's no room for bookends.

I like the creativeness and I like some of them

I still have hardcover books and use bookends
