 I don't mind the blue island, but I would prefer black for more contrast. I don't like the gold hardware or light fixtures either.

Very pretty, open & cheery kitchen.  The blue island & window really add beauty to the room.  The only exception for me are the brass ceiling light fixtures.  While I like them, I think they're trendy.  I try to go with items that are more timeless.  I'd love to see the view from the window.
