I have an old family rocking chair. I have refinished it and now am at the re-upholstery stage. The bottom seat has springs, one of the springs has broken. I am wondering what I should do, put a new spring in ( the seat never sat comfortably) or get rid of the springs and use a good thick foam cushion? Anyone done this? Or are there any upholsterers in the forum that could give me advice? With the refinishing (which had to be done) it's not a valuable antique, just an old rocker with lots of family memories that I want to sit in comfortably.
Any help or suggestions appreciated. I really don't know what's best to do.
