Dish / Direct TV question

Does anyone know how to get the satellite thingie removed from a roof? I don't know whether mine is a dish or direct since I purchased the house with it attached. I do not want Dish or Direct. They refuse to come and remove it. They say that I will have to hire someone to remove it then I can just throw it away. It's on the second floor roof of my house. This type of customer service really sours me on their products. Any suggestions would be helpful, including a site where I can file a complaint. Thanks

By the way, when the dish people are in the neighborhood, they say it's a direct. When the direct people are in the neighborhood, they say it's a dish. None of them will take 10 minutes with their ladders to remove it for me.
