I was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on purchasing/installing new carpet. I haven't bought carpet in years, and only have it upstairs, so maybe I'm just "behind the times" with prices. I know that it's difficult because there are so many grades of carpet and padding, but I was so shocked at my $4,000 estimate for 2 bedrooms, a hallway (not large) and stairs. The carpet that I chose wasn't even a "top of the line" selection. I did pay a little more for a better pad. Any ideas would be appreciated - thanks!
