Blue Candles in the Window at Christmas

My Grandma always put electric candles in the windows at Christmas. She always used blue bulbs. She passed away more than 20 years ago and my mom passed away last year, so I don't have anyone else to ask why. Was it popular in the 40's, 50's, and 60's. My Grandma had a lot of vintage decorations for Christmas that she had collected over the years. (bought new and used year after year). I was just wondering of anyone knew about the blue bulbs.
