VPH new scene in a Lantern ??

have a question for those that have it,  is the top of the lantern suppose to be open and not closed I ?  Mine is open which is strXnge.  Maybe it had to do with it getting hot with the lights on,  but I don't feel LEDs get hot.  Would like to know if anyone else has the same opening on top.

The top is open.  I think the design is based on lanterns that would use real candles which usually have an open top to vent the heat and smoke.

That makes sense.  I just wanted yo make sure the one I have wasn't defective,   It is so pretty much nicer than I even expected ,  look forward to receiving the fall lantern,  I hope Valerie  will do all 5 seasons '
