I am in zone 6, Ohio.  I need an annual or perennial that will vine and bloom.

But I do not want it to scatter seeds so that I have sprouts all thru the landsdcape...similar to what a black eyed susan does...they travel everywhere.

I plan to plant inside a deep round pot, so annual would be best as it will not be planted below ground to survive winter.

The  area gets good morning sun and then again later in the day.

thanks.

My favorite vining plant is the Mandivilla.  They are so beautiful and grow pretty fast.

They attract humming birds and come in many shades of pink and red.

I have them on my deck every year.  They come in the vining type and the bush type...read the label to get the one you want.

I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

How big of a vine do you want? Moonflowers would give you a large, robust climber, while cardinal climber would be a bit less robust.

@Carmie     That is very pretty.  I have seen that plant at the garden center, I never thought about it for the space I want to fill.  thanks!

I love Star Jasmine. Wonderful scent and it attracts bees and humming birds. I have three in my back yard.

A lot will depend on how much vine you want and if you have room to run a trellis.  What color do you have in mind?

@cheriere       The photo is similar to what I have, mine is pretty good size.

I would like yellow or burgandy blooms but really it will depend on what I can find this year.  My front door is burgandy.

A fast grower would be nice, my front yard is nicely landscaped but needs color.

How about a clematis? They come in lots of colors Smiley Happy Though designed to be planted in the ground, I've had one in a pot for a few years.
