I have a sungold cherry tomato plant growing in an EarthBox, and it's already almost 4 ft tall, and I have been told that it will grow to at least 6 ft or more. I have been creating my own trellis work, with bamboo stakes, but when I mentioned to the man who is the local tomato expert that I had been taking off the suckers, he almost fainted, and told me not to touch the plant any more. I am now concerned that the whole vine will become unmanageable.
I already have some tiny baby tomatoes (not ripe yet) on it, and tons of little flowers.
I have been looking all over the internet at everyone's suggestions, and to prune or not to prune the suckers seems to be an ongoing debate. Can anyone help me out here? Needless to say I don't have a large space, this is all on my deck!
