Hi everyone. I have two beautiful black spruce trees that we planted almost six years ago as baby trees a couple of feet high. They now stand about 10 or more feet high and about 12 feet apart on the front lawn. I am in zone 5 in Atlantic Canada and spruce grow well here. The trrees are in full sun and I have pulled back the grass so that they have good room to breathe etc.
One tree is doing really well. The other tree showed some signs of distress last year and continues to look under the weather this year. It has some brown spots where the needles would fall off if you rubbed them. It is not as tall as the other tree by about 2 feet. Any idea what may be bothering this tree?
I will google as well but was hoping someone here might have some words of wisdom. Also, I am interested in a recommendation for a good shrub and tree book for zone 5. Would love your recs as I found The Well Tended Perennial Garden and a couple of other great books.
Many thanks. Look forward to your replies.
