What's going on in shipping???

Remember when things used to ship almost immediately and you would receive your packages within days. Well, it seems that recently that has changed. Things seem to sit in "in process" for days. I ordered something to give as a gift but it looks like I will need to get something locally as I fear I will not receive it in time. UGHHH!
