Skechers - what socks do you wear

I just purchased a pair of Skechers where the tongue/flap doesn't come up as high on the foot as a traditional pair of athletic/sneaker shoes. I've tried a few pairs of anklets/footies and they all come up high on the Skechers shoe and I personally don't like the look of them. But, I prefer to wear some kind of sock in my shoes to minimize slipping, absorb odors etc. What do you recommend on the low profile Skechers?
