Shopaholics ODAT - Friday, September 4th

Hello and TGIF everyone.  We got a nice steady rain last night that put me to sleep.  It's kind of hazy, hot and humid so I guess I'll be dealing with it through the holiday weekend.  Work's been steady, but good.

Other than that.....I got nothing.

There are many elements: wind, fire, water
But none quite like the element of surprise

Re: Shopaholics ODAT - Friday, September 4th

Good Morning/Afternoon!  Thanks for getting us started, Bernie.  We had a heavy rain storm yesterday afternoon and evening.  It started as I was leaving my caregivers group, and I got soaked.  But, it is cooler here today, and we need rain.

The caregivers group as great, and I am even more interested in the adult day service for DH.  Hope he will go and enjoy it.

I am not feeling great today, in fact, I am not sure how much exercise I'll be able to do.  I had to staff a table promoting the OLLI "classes" early this morning, so there was no time for a walk.  And, when I came home I took a nap.  Not like me at all.  My nose was running like crazy yesterday, and I took cold medicine last night which may have been the cause of some of my weird dreams, etc.

Hope to get my energy back soon.

Waves to Jean, Kathleen, Arlene, twinny, snicks, Barbara, Susan, Marijane, LindaR, Charlene, Rosa, Karen, Gayle, pinky ann, and all of our posters and readers.  Have a good day everyone!

Hugs,

Linda

Re: Shopaholics ODAT - Friday, September 4th

Hi Bird and everyone,

It's another hot, sunny day; I'm headed out to the PO in a little while to get the last of the packages mailed for the Ladies Night Out party for the female troops in A-stan, then I'm going to hit the pool while I still can.  I had more trouble with my internet connection last night and called tech support; they were great, but now I have to do a bunch more cleaning as they're sending out a "specialist" tomorrow to try and figure out why I'm having so many problems.  I hate cleaning...it never ends.  Cat Sad

My day got off to a great start. Cat Frustrated  I was expecting an order from Amazon, which included bird seed - thankfully I still had some money left from the sweet guy who sent me a gift card.  Anyway, when I woke (but was still in bed) I checked my Kindle and saw it had been delivered; yesterday those little guys finished the last of the 20# bag I had gotten in Walmart recently plus the free 2# bag from Wild Birds. (I have at least 50 birds nesting in my arbor, which is right near the feeder, and they go through an entire feeder a day - they'd probably eat even more if I refilled in as soon as it was empty.)  So, I went to the front door to get the packages off the porch...and they weren't there. Puzzled, I looked at the side door, at the back porch (although not likely they'd be left there because of the dogs)...nothing.  I finally found them - IN THE STREET!  Cat Mad The lazy, worthless mail carrier couldn't be bothered bringing them to the front porch; they were clearly marked HEAVY, so I had a heck of a time getting them to the house - he must have just dumped them off his truck.  This is at least the third complaint in the last 3-4 months; I called the postmaster at the local PO (which I NEVER use, except when Amazon sends something via USPS and I don't have any choice in the matter) and also called the main number to file yet another complaint with them, as the local postmaster never does anything.  Sad - over 94 million people are out of work; I'm sure there are many locally who'd be happy to have his job and actually WORK for their paycheck.  Cat Mad

I had to go to another Aldi yesterday as the one in Georgia didn't have the canned food my picky girls like; from there I went to Sam's and got dog kibble and a few other things. (I can't figure why they'll eat leftovers, garbage they get into, even "chocolate crunchies" from the litterboxes if I'm not watching...but won't eat any dog food but a certain kind.)  Apart from fish food from Walmart and pine pellets (for litter) from Tractor Supply I'm done for the month, except for perishables like milk and produce...although I'd like to get some more cat food from Publix while they're having the terrific sale.

My cousin from Michigan was saying her husband had knee replacement surgery, and they gave him a walker when he left the hospital. Sounds like a real mess - the first brand of walker wasn't covered by their insurance, so they had to wait hours for delivery of another one; the driver apparently put it together and drove off without testing it; poor Mike went to use it, it wasn't put together properly, it collapsed and he fell, then they had all kinds of problems getting a replacement...  Cat Frustrated  Seems almost no one wants to do their job anymore...

I guess I'd better get dressed and be on my way; I got some homework done yesteday, and more needs to be done today and tomorrow.  I'm trying to avoide the stress and not wait until the last minute.  Next week will be a busy one - I'm starting some classes for the PhD program in Advanced Prophetics, which should be lots of fun. Cat Very Happy  I can't wait!

Have a blessed day, everyone!

Re: Shopaholics ODAT - Friday, September 4th

I HATE THE STUPID MESSAGE TAGS BOX - I DON'T WANT IT BUT THE CURSER JUMPS THERE AFTER A WORD OR TWO....  Cat Mad

Just saw you, LindaL - hope you're feeling better; take care of yourself!  BTW, how's the daycare going for DH?

I did manage to get my caps lock key disabled; nice to not have to go back and retype a lot, since I type very fast and often don't notice the all caps right away. Now I want to see if I can change the numbers pad so that the numbers lock can't be turned off...

Re: Shopaholics ODAT - Friday, September 4th

Hi ladies, thnaks for starting us today birdmama. Glad you got some rain, but the humidity that goes with it...not so much. Hope you have an uneventful afternoon at work.

LL, sounds like you have or are, catching a cold, hate that for you. I am still coughing from the cold I had a couple months ago, which is not unusual for me, but other than the cough I feel fine. I am glad you are finding the caregiver's group helpful and also hope your DH will go and enjoy the daycare service...when does that start? It does seem that you taking a nap is very unusual along with missing your daily exercise, but apparently you need the rest, so please do take good care of yourself.

FHG, wow...sorry you are still having so many problems with everything, hoping things turn around for you soon.

Well, other than a bit more cleaning (bathroom this time, and my front loading washer needed the gasket and filter cleaned out really well), and general straightening and daily cleaning tasks,  I got nothing going on either. Hope to get the pool closed up this weekend.

Hope everyone enjoys the upcoming holiday weekend. Waves to all.

Re: Shopaholics ODAT - Friday, September 4th

BIRD MAMA, We missed out on the rain last evening, but the humidity is much better & it was 64 degrees overnight. It is so nice to be able to open the windows again. Sounds like work is manageable right now for you which is a blessing. I took my moped downtown earlier this a.m. & got my walk in. I then measured how far my moped ride is to the downtown area. It is 1.2 miles. Too bad that doesn't count towards my walking. LL, I am so glad that you enjoyed the caregivers meeting yesterday. Now prayers that your DH will go & enjoy himself. I hope that your cold is soon gone so that you can continue with whatever you choose to do. FHG, It sounds like your PO is the worst that there could possibly be. It is nice that you can enjoy the pool for a while longer yet. It is so nice of you to remember the ladies night out gals with some nice surprises., SNICKS, I have played it lazy this week as I don't like hot weather. I did take a nice each day so that was a good thing. Next week I will be a cleaning machine again. The weather will be in the 70's & company will be coming for 3 days. With just the two of us here, we don't make a huge mess. It is mostly just doing a little dusting & washing the floors. The windows need washing again too, so that may be on the agenda also. After our walks all we did was get groceries & have lunch out. DH has been trying to visit his friend for two days but he isn't around. His shopping news is still on the porch since Weds. & A/C was going this afternoon so I wonder where he really is. If he doesn't call by tonight we will call his brother whom lives here in town. We will take him for a fish fry tonight if he calls back. JEAN, I hope that school went well for you today & that you have a great weekend.

Re: Shopaholics ODAT - Friday, September 4th

Bernie--Thank you for starting the thread. It is good that work is going well. I'm one of the odd individuals who cannot sleep well when it is raining and I can hear it, but I'm glad that you found it relaxing.

Linda--I'm sorry that you are ot feeling well. Hopefully you are not coming down with a bad cold. It is good that the caregiver's group is supportive anf that DH is considering the day program.

Arlene--It is frustrating to have a delivery made that makes it difficult for you to handle. Some packages are so heavy that the right delivery service should be chosen. I completely understand your cats being picky; Midnight is also. It has to be the right brand and the right flavors.

Snicks--I hope the pool closing goes well. The cough must still be a little irritating and a nuisance. The routine work around the house certainly takes time. Routine life is th enorm for most of us. I hadn't thought of the upcoming holiday weekend until you mentioned it.

Twinny--The cooler temperatures will definitely make it easier for you to clean. I hope there is not a problem with DH's friend. Calling a relative to check up on him might be a good idea.

I'm home from work.  I know I definitely work Tuesday and Wednesday. I  have no major plans for the weekend except to relax and perhaps go to the city. I do need my nails done, and I wouldn't mind a nice meal out. I don't pay much attention to holidays as they are just another day in my life.

Shopping? I've spent $30 so far this week and that was for some groceries I needed to carry me over until I go to the city to do the major grocery shopping haul. I did get the SG reversible coat, which was my last purchase that was a "want" purchase.

Re: Shopaholics ODAT - Friday, September 4th

Well, my "wonderful" day continues. I got the packages mailed (OH, THAT (#$* % "MESSAGE TAGS" BOX!  I HATE IT!), picked up the litter at Tractor Supply (of course, all the dogs jumped into the car to come with me), then I pulled into the driveway, happy to be home and eager to hit the pool...and Angelica bolted out of the car and took off running.  Cat Mad  I drove around for an hour looking for her; I can't imagine that she'd have gotten far in just a few minutes, but she's nowhere to be found.

I've posted her picture on the town's FB pages, and also asked if anyone is interested in adopting her when she's found.  She's too high energy for me; she needs some kids to play with and wear her out, and although I love her, my health is more important than a dog that's only going to give me stress.  Enough already!

Jean, most of the cats aren't picky - there are one or two cat food flavors that a couple of them aren't big on, so I just tell them, "Tough - better luck next meal!"  Cat Wink  It's not like they're starved - they get kibble for most of their meal, and just a tablespoon or so of canned food.  It's Honeybun and especially Autumn who are the picky ones.

Well, lunch is in the oven; I'm going to eat and then try to wind down and relax a bit.  I'm so stressed out it's not funny...I don't need this!

Arlene--You are having the worst luck. I just saw this on FB. I think adopting her out might be a good idea. I know you love her but you don't need the constant stress.

Re: Shopaholics ODAT - Friday, September 4th

JEAN, I love SG reversible fleece coats. I think you have one already. I have the rose/chocolate brown one & the apple green/navy one that I got at the outlet store a couple of years ago. I also have 2 D & Co. ones. I love fall & winter so I am prepared for whatever weather we get. Tonight while DH & I were out for dinner, our friend called. He said that he had been at the clinic most of this week, last week & he has 3 appts. next week. He said apparently he has had another mini stroke, circulation problems & I don't know what all. DH plans to visit with him tomorrow. It is amazing how many phone calls one gets when they are only gone for about an hour. DH's Humana Plan called to refill 3 of his 4 rx's. Also, 2 automated pieces of JUNK. FHG, I am so sorry to hear about Angelica, but I think you would be very wise to find her another good home.
