Shoe choices following hip replacement surgery?

My mom is in the rehab hospital following a hip replacement surgery. I am looking for help in finding comfortable shoes that will be easy for her to put on.

She wears a 9 narrow.

I just ordered a pair of leather Hushpuppies and another pair of leather Propet brand walking shoes for her from Zappos that are in her size, and use velcro fasteners.

Do any of you wonderful ladies that have had this surgery have any suggestions??
