I suppose it could have been someone who sincerely has some rigid ideas about age related appropriateness (I've seen it on this board) but it is just as likely someone trying to take you down a peg...

A French braid is especially beautiful made into a loose bun with pieces coming out.

Oh my goodness , 40 is so young ! Absolutely wear your French braid, I'm sure it's beautiful on you.

I am 65 and French braid is my favorite way to do my hair, and I'm not exaggerating , I get constant compliments from all ages and men as well, I'm constantly being told ..." You look just like Elsa in frozen". For summer especially, and stays neat in the wind. Go for it !😄

Absolutely. MUST give up braids of any kind on the 364th day that you are 39.

Braiding is most likely ILLEGAL in the state you are living in. Don't be caught outside your home wearing a braid.

Braiding MAY be legal in the District of Columbia, some states in the NW and, of course, NJ.

So the bottom line- DO EXACTLY WHAT YOU LIKE WITH YOUR HAIR. YOU GREW IT, AND IT'S YOURS.

(I love braiding of any kind and if I had more than 26 hairs, and they were long enough, I'd braid them!).

I don't how many of you have seen the thing on Facebook with the long hair pulled, shaved up the back with designs shaved into it?? Let you hair down & you can't even see it....WELL, I am 63 & IF I had long hair, I would do this in a heartbeat!! I love it!!
