windows 7 home premium - refresh key???

i have noticed that my F5 key does not refresh the page like it did in XP. is there anyway to change this? i see alot of questions online from other users about it but no solution. i checked the microsoft site for this product and the keyboard shortcuts and it says that F5 refreshes the current window but it won't - it takes me to my homepage. that is the only page it will reload.
