A cord cover can be painted the wall color if you do not want 2 chords to show and you do not want to put an outlet in the wall. You will need to accommodate your cable box if you use one.

I've got so many electrical cords, the Fire Marshall would probably condemn my house...............

You need hide the wires in the wall or hide them in an external conduit. You can paint it to match the wall color and you'll barely see it. If you are renting, by sure you check with the lanlord first.
