refurbished or use ipod?

has anyone ever brought a refurbished item,i was thinking about buying a ipod nano so I can listen to my music in my car and use it on my treadmill,both are ipod capatable.I wish i can use any mp3 player but I don't think so,anyway amazon have some used ones and refurbished for a lot cheaper.What do you guys think,thanks in advance
