iPad / Recent IOS upgrade question.

I have an iPad 2 and recently upgrade to 6.0.1. Ever since the upgrade instead of saying AT&T in the upper left corner it says "no service". I do not pay to have att service as I only use the Wifi at this point. I am still able to use Wifi so my question is was this something that was added as part of the upgrade? TIA.
