Nook books

silly question but since B&N is having 50% off ebooks today, if they stop selling/supporting ebooks, the books you download, will they still be there on your nook to read? I was thinking on stocking up on books but not if they're gonna disappear. For some reason I am pretty sure I read that the books are not really property of the person buying them, that's why it is discounted. True?
