Nintendo's Wii U details to be released today. (Thursday 9/13/2012)

Starting at ten this morning (ET) Nintendo will finally release the details of the Wii U. Based on the information released in Japan yesterday it looks like the Wii U will come in at least two different packages. One basic package with a small hard drive (8 gb) and an advanced package that will include a charging cradle for the Gamepad controller, a larger hard drive (32 gb,) an HDMI cable and a one year subscription to the Nintendo Network Premium which will entitle the owner to a 10% on all odwnloadable content. The Japanese prices are around $340 for the basic model and $400 for the advanced model. Judging from the relatively small capacities of the hard drives, I'm assuming they're using SSD (solid state drives) instead of mechanical. You can expand the storage capacity using any USB (probably 2.0 and not 3.0) external hard drive also which gives you nearly unlimited storage capability.

A leak earlier from a video game distributor indicated that there would be three packages in America starting at $250 and going up to $350, so we'll have to see what kinds of configurations there are available. Nintendo is streaming the event live on multiple platforms including their own website, their Facebook page and multiple gaming sites will also likely stream it live.

If you have any interest in video games and the first of the next gen consoles then plop yourself down in front of a computer around ten this morning and give their presentation a look. (Be advised the press has been advised that the event will last six hours, so it could be a long presentation.)
