My Computer Isn't Charging

I have it plugged in and it's been that way all day and it says 8% available and not charging. I took the cord from my husbands computer and put it on mine and still nothing. Can someone please help me before I'm shut off from the world{#emotions_dlg.crying}....just kidding of course.
