I'm in the market for a blue-ray player, any recs?

We have decided we probably need one of these, DH loves movies.

At the moment we don't have Wi-Fi in our house. If we buy one of these will we have Wi-Fi and be able to access something like Netflix? Will I be able to use my Wi-Fi only Kindle in the house, for more than reading?

Sorry I am not an electronics person. The Kindle was a gift, I would have gone for a 3G one, but I couldn't return it.
