I read about the security risks of using Java by reading this bulletin board but did not uninstall it until last night.
We have a small family business and use a computer software program designed specifically for our type of business. Ten days ago, this program stopped working properly on two of our business computers. The other three computers worked fine. DH talked to the person who wrote the software program. He said that none of his other clients were having issues and told us to talk to our computer people. They checked the computers and said they could find nothing wrong and that it was a software issue. So frustrating. DH worked for hours/researched on google, etc. Finally, something clicked and he suspected it might be the Java program. He uninstalled Java in both the non-working computers and the program works perfectly now.
I'm sure we're going to need Java for something, sometime but for now it's off the computers and they are worked perfectly.
