JAN Chapman = Alive

JAN/JANET - easy mistake.

Apparently Janet Patterson was an extremely private person

with few photos.   When she passed it was later discovered

during a Nicole Kidman Interview when she gave her respects.  

The press caught wind....and used the incorrect photo w/ Jan Chapman

in Australia media...and snowballed from there. Honest mistake?

Kinda, but if I was The Academy, I would want at least 3 photos 

for verification.

Blame the accountants.  Wonder if they will be fired?

Not to mention the photo used was obtained from Getty Images and had been incorrectly labeld with the wrong name. So the name and occupation of the deceased was correct in the montage...it was the photo that was wrong due to mislabeling by Getty.

I was unfamiliar with her. She was so beautiful and I really enjoyed her singing.

As to the mistaken photo - that is really a drag.  Somebody was not paying attention when they put that piece together.    I read about this earlier, on another boad, and apparently the lady whose photo was used was really shaken by it.     I would never have known because I don't know either of these ladies.  But it's a VERY unfortunate mistake to have made.

I wonder how I...or any of us...would feel if we read or heard we were dead.

I like to think I'd take it humorously...like someone else said, something like "reports of my death have been exaggerated"...something like that.

I guess it might depend on the kind of day(s) I was having.
