Tyler Summitt's inherited pension from UT

14.460 a month for his entire life! Wow! Good for him!

Re: Tyler Summitt's inherited pension from UT

This is yet another way our states and pension systems are broke.

I don't think pension systems that are funded by (or have to be bailed out by) taxpayer money should have the non spouse option (or non significant other). I don't believe children or others should be able to inherit a pension. Someone has to pay for that, and guess what, it ends up being taxpayers.

@Pinkroses

Has this been discussed on here previously so we all should know who you're referring to?   Who is this person?

I don't know who it is either.  I figure if I decide I need to know I'll just Google the name.  Usually I don't.

I read another thread title somewhere here about two people getting married.  Never heard of either of them.   Oh well.  Usually, I figure I'm the only one.  Smiley Wink

Former University of Tennessee women's basketball coach Pat Head Summit's son.  She passed away this summer.  May she rest in peace.

That pension inheritance is a shocker for me!

This article has some info about Pat's will.  The last couple of paragraphs have some interesting info about Tennessee's non-spouse pension plan.

Is that supposed to be $14,460?  Or $14.46?  (Either figure is ridiculous.)

I did not know you could inherit a pension from your parent.  What a deal!

Considering that the decimal pint is after the 14 is he inheriting $14.60 a month or  was the decimal supposed to be a comma, ie. $14,460.00?

That decimal point or comma makes a big difference.

Assuming this is supposed to be $14,460, this is ridiculous.  I don't think a child should get a parent's pension.
