Re: Tips that have Stayed with You

I teach people how to treat me.  When a person does something to me and I don't speak up, defend myself, correct them then I am teaching them what I will accept.

For example, if I am dating Larry and he always cancels his date with me at the last hour and I keep dating him, I am teaching him Jane will accept this kind of treatment.  This same man Larry will date Sue next year and say he does the same thing with here but she dumps him Right away, he learns okay I can't do that with her.  Sue taught him by her actions what she will accept.

She taught him by her actions how to treat her.

Re: Tips that have Stayed with You

My father gave me the greatest advice in the world and I've never forgotten it...."Let it go."

Whatever it is, once you've done all you can, or realize that there is nothing you can do.... let it go.....

I'm one to keep it all in... to harbor it inside, to never forget..... and that's destructive.  I've learned to "Let it go"..... Woman Happy

From my dad: be careful driving on a street covered with wet leaves.  It's as bad as snow. He was right.

Another one: in fog, at a stoplight, stop more than a car-length behind the car in front of you and plan a way out if you see the car behind you doesn't see you and can't stop. Then you can get out of the way, and the car behind you will hit the car in front of you, leaving you safe.

My dad taught me: Never depend on anyone to financially support you. You need to be able to take care of yourself. Has served me well, even after over 35 years together.
