😵 That "board" reminds me of the old wooden paddles they used in high school on the butts of juvenile delinquents who thought they were "Too Cool For School."

I am not sure when exactly it happened but, suddenly, we were hearing "charcuterie."
How did that word pick up speed so fast and why?
@Mersha. As soon as one person learned to pronounce it, everybody was charcutering. All because people wanted better olives.

In my family,a wooden board with Italian meat, cheese, olives and goodies on it is called a antipasto platter.
Never heard it called an Italian deli platter.

LOL!! @ManyMeows !
I'll take your version with the Italian sandwich rolls. Mmm...
I'll also take it with some Italian meats on there, along with some Provolone cheese slices, and a bit of some Italian herbs and then some red wine vinegar and oil, and then we'll have a really nice sandwich!

I'd never heard the term until they started using it on ITKWD. Makes it sound fancy so it costs more.

I consider the difference to be...
DELI Board- a selection of national brand meats and cheeses,
CHARCUTERIE Board- samplings of meats from locally sourced ,specialty farms/breeders.

Charcuterie...
Antipasto...
My mother's family is Italian and it was always antipasto. But I'll eat both no matter what it's called. Put out an olive and I'm all over it.
