If you go to Monterey, you MUST stop at eat at Rosine's, in downtown Monterey on Alvarado Street.

The food is great, but the cakes...OH MY! Heart

@Kachina624

Thank goodness you both survived!

Sounds like time for another road trip to make a new memory?

@sunshine&rainbows  If you do happen to go to the former Sears Point Raceway (now called Sonoma Raceway), just off Hwy 37, be sure to take a side trip to the beautiful Viansa Winery just up the road on Hwy 121.  It's like a bit of Tuscany.

Hi so good to hear from you! Cat Happy

I will put down Viansa Winery down in our notes, even though we do not drink, would love to tour a beautiful winery reminisce of Tuscany. Thank you.

And of course there are a few casinos to hit along the way. Woman Wink

@Marienkaefer2

My mouth is watering looking at all the cakes! Thank you.

I checked out the web site too. Going on my list of places to visit.

I am now going to have to make a Tres Leche Cake!

Hi @sunshine&rainbows

I don't drink either but if you do go, I think you'll like the gift shop and the view over the wetlands, plus the drive up to the winery itself does look very much like Tuscany  (at least of pictures I've seen).  But then, California can look like lots of places.

I send you my best for a wonderful trip.  It sounds like so much fun.  I think you and your husband will have a great time.  Hugs.

Many, many years ago a friend and I "ran away from home".  Left children and husbands behind.  We started in San Diego and ended up in Victoria, BC.  We were gone two weeks and made many stops along the way.  We had a ball!

Been going to Rosie's for years.  Got the cookbook a few years ago.  Love it.

@GingerPeachThank you! Smiley Happy

I also enjoy the little museums along the way, have you heard of the Grace Hudson Muesum (great little gift shop)  I have been there spending time waiting for my dialysis patients to get done with there treatment.  I miss them my pts. and they are gone now, like most of my family... and all the friends and family that wont be there to visit.  I am grateful for the family and friends that I still have in the Bay area and Northern Cal...

My life is different now and I am learning to deal or live with it.

  I promise I will make the most of my trip! Mahalo my friend, please take care...

Hi @sunshine&rainbows

I think I'm getting excited for your trip!

No, I hadn't heard of the Grace Hudson Museum, but then it's a lot farther north than I've been in a long while (Ukiah, CA).  I just looked it up online and it seems like a perfect place to investigate.

Best wishes for a lovely time.

For the last 20 years, I've suffered with "freaking out" while driving - and also being a passenger in a car. Prior to that, I loved going everywhere in a car. It's much worse when I drive on the freeway (I live in southern Calif). Fortunately, I don't have to get on the freeway very often. I get major panic attacks - and want to cry.

I'm 75 yrs young - and enjoy spending most of my time in my house. I read an article that said this mostly happens to women and starts during menopause -- that's what happened to me.

It's the speed, the lanes are much narrower than years ago, seeing all the cars around me -- and they go so fast.
