Princess Diana - 19th Anniversary of her death

It's hard to believe 19 years have gone by since Diana was killed in the car crush in Paris.   I think she would be very proud of her two sons. I'm sorry she didn't live to see her two beautiful grandchildren. RIP Princess Diana.

I remember I had been out to dinner with a friend at a little inn about an hour away.  I arrived home late, turned on CNN as I usually did back then, and later heard the breaking news about Diana being in a car crash, that Dodi had died but she was still alive.  I stayed up watching until the awful news that she had not survived the accident.  I'll never forget that.

Re: Princess Diana - 19th Anniversary of her death

She was born just a few months before me, married a few months before me and had her first child a year before my one and only son was born.  I still miss her and the joy she gave others with her true giving heart to the less fortunate.  Diana leaves a beautiful family legacy for generations to come.  They seem to be following her lead very well and proudly.

Hard to believe it has been that long. I loved her, her beauty and style and elegance. Several years ago I took a trip with my mother to see the Diana exhibit at Foxwoods Casino in CT. It included her wedding dress and other dresses. Also childhood mementos. I also saw the traveling exhibit of her dresses at a local museum, I think it surrounded the charity auction. I felt so fortunate to see both.

@Greeneyedlady21    I remember when the exhibit with her wedding dress went around the country.  It was even in my city but was one of those things I intended to go to but never got around to it, and I regret that.

I am amazed it has been that long.I always felt that she was a very troubled young woman. Her sons seem to have turned out well. Everything about her marriage seems to have been for all the wrong reasons - he married her just to get heirs and she married him because she wanted to be a princess. If only they had been honest with each other in the first place!

@151949  I disagree with your last sentence.  Yes, he married her to get heirs (and there was that virgin requirement back then) but from everything I've read about them,  she truly loved him -- at least at first.  I don't think you are giving her enough credit with your assessment.

I disagree - I think she loved WHO he was - the prince - but not the man. I know she loved her sons, but no one can possibly know what was in her heart toward her husband.

Is that your opinion only?  My statement is based on quite a few things I've read over the years,  the sources being female friends of Diana's.
