Peacocks at my house?

We live in NE Kansas a few miles out of town on a highway. Yesterday there was a peacock feather laying by our back door. This morning there was another peacock feather laying by the door. Weird.

Is there such a thing as wild peacocks running around. I googled and it just said peacocks were at the zoo. I know I have seen them before, but can't remember where. I think I was a kid and they were at the zoo.

Am I out of the loop? Is this a common thing to have peacocks running around?
