Purple has always been my favorite color so I already have many trendy items in my closet this season.

Apparently it was the color of his piano used on tour.

I pay no attention at all to the Pantone color of the year.  I just buy the colors I like.  Makes me laugh though, I am a purple lover and I cannot remember a time in my 57 years when I have not had some purple in my wardrobe.  It's not like Pantone just invented purple.  It's funny, I love purple and lavender so much that I always make a point of limiting what I buy....otherwise, I'd have all purple.

I don't think Pantone believes they "invented purple."

I think they are making a tribute to Prince.
