We are both on medicare and have Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield as well.
We both went last week to have our ears cleaned. They asked for the $35 copay and we paid it.
Yesterday we each received a bill for $35 from the doctor. We called and were told that the original $35 we paid was for the office visit, and the additional $35 was for the procedure. Huh?????
We called the insurance company and they said they've been getting many calls about this. They said it's not their responsibility if the doctor is double charging. They said we have to take it up with the doctor. We called back and got into an argument. They'll see that money when he*ll freezes over.
Have you ever heard of such a thing? Our $35 copay is now $70.
Any thoughts, suggestions, or ideas?
Sunny
