Medicare & State Retiree Insurance

Medicare is my primary insurance & as a state retiree I pay for a policy administered by the state which included prescription drugs with co-pays. I just got a letter from the state that if retirees want drug coverage next year it's $73/month extra. If I don't sign up for the drug plan, my insurance will be cancelled. So much for the Affordable Care Act. That's a lot of money for me. I've called around other supplement plans & pre-existing coverage doesn't apply for Medicare people. That provision of the plan is for people who aren't on Medicare. What do I do? Pay the $73 so I can keep my insurance or just find a prescription plan to join & just use Medicare without a supplementary plan. I only have 1 month to decide. Private prescription plans are about #$40/month.
