Medical errors, third leading cause of deaths in the US

Watching the news tonight and this is the story.

Only cancer and heart disease kill more people.

This is why many people avoid health care, especially non essential surgeries, hospitalizations and procedures that might improve their lives.

Kind of scary.

Yes, human error is a huge issue.

It's important to question and either be your own advocate or someone on your behalf.

Me and/or mine have been on the receiving end of about ten medical/Doctor errors, so I KNOW this to be a fact.

Take it up with Fox News. They reported the study was done at John Hopkins.

This is so very important. And hard to do often, as when you are at your lowest/sickest/neediest, you have to try to be on top of your game with this.

Re: Medical errors, third leading cause of deaths in the US

I'm not surprised!  A few months ago I was in the hospital.  Thank goodness I was alert and awake.

There were so many times (I was in there for 5  days) and several times I'd say, "No!  I'm not taking that".  "No, I'm not supposed to take generic this or that"  It was crazy!

My family has 4 RN's in it.  They all say, "Stay out of the hospital if you can".

It's not the fault of the nurses.  The Drs tell the patient on thing but they don't tell the nurses desk.  Where I was a nurse apologized for not coming when I rang over and over.  She said she was cleaning up urine that was all over the floor of another patient.  An RN should not have to clean up urine from the floor!

That was just one thing!
