I hope my experiences are isolated! As a small business owner, we have started noticing that younger workers ( under 25ish) cannot read or write cursive. I asked some teachers in town and they confirmed that cursive writing is not taught in our school system. A teacher told me that when she writes for her 7th grade students it must always be in block printing. Our High School is considering offering Cursive Writing as an elective.
On another note: Many young ones cannot tell time on an analog clock and we know about counting money back as change.
