Kindle Lending Library questions please....

I want to borrow a book using Prime. It costs $4.99 if you would buy it but it is available to borrow for free. I don't remember if I already have a book borrowed or not since it has been a few months. In other words, I don't know if I returned it. I have bought so many free books that I have a lot on my account.

How can I find out if I have one borrowed? If I click to buy the book I want to borrow, will it tell me if I have one borrowed?

Or if I have one borrowed, will it just charge me $4.99? I don't want to pay for it.

I tried looking through all my books to see if I need to return one, but it is tedious.

Thanks for any advice.
