Re: Hail, Hail Rock and Roll.........Chuck Berry Has Died

He was the major influence on all rock and roll that came after him in the 50's and 60's, not only on American groups, but British groups as well. He has been hailed as the 6th greatest guitarist in the world, ever.

Thank you... and RIP.

To quote the Righteous Brothers' song, "If there's a Rock and Roll Heaven, you know they've got a helluva band." Well, that band just got even better...

Love Chuck Berry's lyrics and performances, especially "Memphis, Tennessee" ("Long Distance information, get in touch with my Marie") and "Brown-eyed Handsome Man."

He was a truly great writer of lyrics and a mesmerizing performer.  RIP.

Chuck Berry.

If someone would've played 'Dead or Alive',

truth be told...I would've said 'dead'....about 20yrs ago.

Maybe his musical wisdom made him seem older than his years?

Just proves how strong his influence was then & now.

Hi Burnsite,  I had forgotten that Chuck Berry performed "Memphis, Tennessee".  Guess I always think of the later version recorded by Johnny Rivers.

BTW, after reading your post on the "What Do You Collect" thread, I bet if we combined our collections of books we could start our own library.  You would supply the fiction selections by Anthony Trollope, and I the non-fiction of political biographies.  I don't consider my books a collection, just can't part with them after I have made all my notes and comments in the margins.  DEEP

I agree, DEEP--I give away my books to family members, but then I just get more.  I have a Kindle and enjoy it, too, but to me there is nothing like opening a book.
