Joshua Waring, the son of formerReal Housewives of Orange County star Lauri Peterson, was arrested for attempted murder after allegedly shooting a man in the torso on Monday, according to police.

Waring, 27, allegedly fled from police in a stolen car after shooting the man in Costa Mesa, California, police told the the Los Angeles Times. When officers located the vehicle, Waring led them on a chase that ended in a standoff at a construction supply warehouse in Santa Ana.

"After a brief standoff, he surrendered without further incident to the Santa Ana police," Costa Mesa police said in a news release.

The charges against Waring include suspicion of attempted murder, vehicle theft, felony evading police and hit and run. His bail was set at $1 million, theOC Register reports.

Joshua Waring, the son of formerReal Housewives of Orange County star Lauri Peterson, has been arrested for suspicion of attempted murder, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Waring, 27, reportedly shot a 35-year-old man in the torso around 2:30 a.m. in Costa Mesa, California, on Monday, June 20.

"Apparently there had been a previous confrontation between [Waring] and the occupants of that residence earlier, and he had returned," Costa Mesa police lieutenant Paul Beckman said in a statement via the L.A. Times.

Waring wasn't handcuffed until several hours later, after a car chase with police. He reportedly crashed while driving a stolen SUV and tried to run away before authorities booked him. According to a Costa Mesa police press release, Waring "surrendered" at the scene.

The unidentified victim, meanwhile, was taken to Orange County Global Medical Center and is expected to survive, according to Costa Mesa Fire Department.

Waring has had trouble with the law before. The L.A. Times reports that he pleaded guilty to a hit-and-run and three felony counts of possession of a controlled substance in 2008. In 2009, he was arrested for battery and possession of drug paraphernalia. More recently, he pleaded not guilty in May to felony drug and forgery charges. (Joshua's struggles with substance abuse were documented on RHOC too.)

 

Peterson, an original Bravo Housewife, has yet to comment on the latest incident. (Peterson appeared on RHOC from 2006 to 2009, and returned for multiple episodes in 2013's season 8.) She last tweeted on June 17, that her stepfather, Richard Bubak, had died from Alzheimer's.

I saw the article also and was so sorry to see this happen to Laurie and her son. Personally I feel sorry for anyone who has to go through this with their children but to have it plastered on every media source must be even more unbearable.

I remember seeing him on the show and it always appeared the mother let him raise himself.  She was too busy trying to look good to snag a husband and some money.  Apparently he's from her first marriage and not the second or third.  The boy needed to know he mattered and was loved and that he had significance in her life - no ther amny treatments of botox and fillers on her face.

I used to watch the show, I remember the mother, but not the son.  She's no longer on Housewives?  I remember she married, I wonder if she still is.  Didn't Lauri have a daughter who rented a condo from her?  I can't picture the daughter, (I keep thinking of Vickie's daughter).

Josh dd is about 4 now.

Lauri is the kind of female who becomes a mom to use the baby/child as a bargaing chip or a pawn for ........MONEY.  The older daughter is by a different father I believe, and so is the younger one.  More money for her.

She's been caught being unfaithful to George Peterson, and I don't know if she's still married to him.

Her son was in trouble back then and I felt she coddled him. Her DD rented the condo which was darling from her mom when she moved in with her boyfriend(at the time) and what a mess she created in the condo...parties, dog pop every where...it was disgusting. Last I hear she put it on the market and made her DD move out. Yes she is still married to George. He has been very supportive...they adopted her son's little daughter..

Laurie was always self absorbed but she did coddle him and should have cut him off much sooner.  Now his child is in the wind........
