Daily Positive Thread for Tuesday

Everything we need to deal with life's problems lies within us. Our trials
are tests to see if we can discover the solution. Lord, I call out Your name
when I face my difficulties and together we will overcome them.

Scripture for the day:

"If God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow
is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you--you of little
faith! And do not keep striving for what you are to eat and what you are to
drink, and do not keep worrying. For it is the nations of the world that
strive after all these things, and your Father knows that you need them.
Instead, strive for his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as
well." ~Luke 12:28-31

Meditation for the day:

I know that God cannot teach anyone who is trusting in a "crutch." I can
throw away the worldly things I have come to depend upon and walk in God's
power and spirit. God's power can so invigorate me that I can indeed walk
on to victory. There is never any limit to God's power. I can go step by
step, one day at a time. God's will can be revealed to me as I go forward.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may have more and more dependence on God. I pray that I may
throw away the "crutches" I sometimes rely upon and let God's power take
their place.

Hello my friends! Today was a blessing for Linus had no knee pain all day!
Wonderful to know our prayers are being heard! Today I felt my plantar's
wart feeling more tender when walking on it - I asked Linus to look at it,
and it's a little red all around it - maybe it's coming to an end????? Hope
so. Every morning I'm soaking my foot in epsom salt and about a cap full of
Tea Tree Oil, and at night I just put some tea tree oil on it with the duct
tape. I just hope it's not getting infection, he'll keep a good eye on it.
I cannot see it. Help me pray for it's end! It's many years old! Not that
it's all painful, just a nuisance there. When Lori was here yesterday she
made some ground sausage with eggs, and tonight I used up the rest of the
sausage, fried it in a little grapeseed oil in my stainless steel pan, along
with some onion and celery, then when it was fried and done, I added the
stir fries from last night with the rice, and that made a great supper along
with a salad to begin with. Nice and filling and it was all ready when he
came home from work. I should do some recipes again, I haven't for a long
time.

Peace

Peace is simplicity of heart, serenity of mind,
tranquility of soul, the bond of love.

Act of Contrition

My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart.
In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good,
I have sinned against you whom I should love above all things.
I firmly intend, with your help, to do penance, to sin no more,
and to avoid whatever leads me to sin.
Our Savior Jesus Christ suffered and died for us.
In his name, my God, have mercy.

St. Valentine's Story

Let me introduce myself. My name is Valentine. I lived in Rome during the
third century. That was long, long ago! At that time, Rome was ruled by an
emperor named Claudius. I didn't like Emperor Claudius, and I wasn't the
only one! A lot of people shared my feelings.

Claudius wanted to have a big army. He expected men to volunteer to join.
Many men just did not want to fight in wars. They did not want to leave
their wives and families. As you might have guessed, not many men signed
up. This made Claudius furious. So what happened? He had a crazy idea. He
thought that if men were not married, they would not mind joining the army.
So Claudius decided not to allow any more marriages. Young people thought
his new law was cruel. I thought it was preposterous! I certainly wasn't
going to support that law!

Did I mention that I was a priest? One of my favourite activities was to
marry couples. Even after Emperor Claudius passed his law, I kept on
performing marriage ceremonies -- secretly, of course. It was really quite
exciting. Imagine a small candlelit room with only the bride and groom and
myself. We would whisper the words of the ceremony, listening all the while
for the steps of soldiers.

One night, we did hear footsteps. It was scary! Thank goodness the couple I
was marrying escaped in time. I was caught. (Not quite as light on my feet
as I used to be, I guess.) I was thrown in jail and told that my punishment
was death.

I tried to stay cheerful. And do you know what? Wonderful things happened.
Many young people came to the jail to visit me. They threw flowers and
notes up to my window. They wanted me to know that they, too, believed in
love.

One of these young people was the daughter of the prison guard. Her father
allowed her to visit me in the cell. Sometimes we would sit and talk for
hours. She helped me to keep my spirits up. She agreed that I did the
right thing by ignoring the Emperor and going ahead with the secret
marriages. On the day I was to die, I left my friend a little note thanking
her for her friendship and loyalty. I signed it, "Love from your
Valentine."

I believe that note started the custom of exchanging love messages on
Valentine's Day. It was written on the day I died, February 14, 269 A.D.
Now, every year on this day, people remember. But most importantly, they
think about love and friendship. And when they think of Emperor Claudius,
they remember how he tried to stand in the way of love, and they laugh --
because they know that love can't be beaten!

- - -
In the Middle Ages, young men and women drew names from a bowl to see who
their valentines would be. They would wear these names on their sleeves for
one week. To wear your heart on your sleeve now means that it is easy for
other people to know how you are feeling.

HOW TO PRAY FOR YOUR CHILD

1. Pray NOTHING hinders your child from accepting Christ as his personal
Savior early in life. (Matthew 19:14)

2. Pray your child learns to know God and will have a deep desire to do
God's will for his life. (Psalms 119:27,30,34,35).

3. Pray child hears stories from the Bible that will be a basis for his
decisions throughout life. (Ecclesiastes 12:1, Psalms 71:17).

4. Pray child will-develop a keen sense of right and wrong and that he will
truly abhor evil and cling to that which is good. (Psalms 139:23-4).

5. Pray child will increase in wisdom (mentally) and in stature (physically)
and in favor with God (spiritually) and man (socially). (Luke 2:52). This
prayer covers his total development to his full potential.

6. Pray that child will develop a thankful heart and a positive mental
attitude. (Psalm 126:2-3, Romans 8:31)

7. Pray that God protect child from Satan and his wiles in every area of his
life. (John 17:55, Psalm 121)

8. Pray that God would destroy the enemies in his life whether they be
weaknesses, lying, selfishness etc. (Psalms 120:2; 140).

9. Pray that God would make him successful in the work God has for him to
do. (Psalm 118:25, 139:9-10)

10. Pray he have a strong sense of belonging to a family that is loving and
dwells together in unity (Psalms 133, Colossians 3:12-14).

11. Pray he will respect authority. (Romans 13:1, Ephesians 6:1-4).

12. Pray that his entire life will be a testimony of the greatness and love
of Christ. (Phillippians 2:15-16 Thess 5:2-3)

If you pray one of these a month, you will have your child covered for a
year!

Forgive Me Lord

Forgive me Lord
For the wrongs I have done.
For anger I shouldn't have
Against anyone.

I know I'm weak Lord,
But I love You, I really do,
And in spite of my weakness,
I know You love me too.

Forgive me for not reading Your word,
And for the times that I stray.
Forgive me for just being too tired
When I don't take the time to pray.

Give me the strength, Lord
To do what I should each day.
Let Your love shine through me
So others will follow Your way.

Even though I've failed You Lord,
I know You'll forgive me,
And this I promise Lord,
A better Christian I will be.

For Your presence is in me
Filling my heart with Your love,
And I have Your reassurance
You're guiding from above.

I love You Lord, and thank You
For the blessings You bestow,
I will tell others about You
So Your goodness they too, will know.

GIVE ME THE STRENGTH GOD

GOD, give me the faith to accept that bad things do
happen to good people.

GOD, give me the strength to make a good home for my
family, to be inspired to share your love with them so
they will also love you, each other and themselves.

GOD, give the strength to turn the other cheek when
people make fun of me or my loved ones, of our clothes,
our goods, let me remember that it is our faith and love
that matters.

GOD, give me the strength to bite my tongue and not
say, « I told you so » or « I knew that would happen »,
help me offer prayers of support.

GOD, give me the strength to remember to pray when I
feel that all hope is lost, let me share this hope with others.

GOD, give me the strength to make changes in this
world in Your name, to right the wrongs I see, to
give justice and love to all Your children.

GOD, help me protect my family---give the strength
to help them withstand the trials You give them.

GOD, help me remember You every day, in everything I
do, in all those I love---You are there.

GOD, give me the strength to have faith in You even
when I don't immediately understand a situation and
to accept that all that You do is for our good, even if
I don't see it.

GOD, show me the path to being a better Christian,
wife, husband, mother, friend.

GOD, give me the strength to speak a universal
language and not be misunderstood; teach me
this universal language of the heart.

GOD, show me how to lead my loved ones in the right
pathway to You, give them the strength to withstand
the barriers and return to the right path.

GOD, give me the strength to forgive other, to love
them as You love me.

GOD, give me the strength to pray when I least feel
like it.

GOD, give me a sign from time to time that You are
there and haven't forgotten us.

GOD, give me the strength to help my family members in
new ventures and experiences, to help ease their way.

GOD, I ask these things of You , not out of selfishness,
but out of love and desire to serve You better and to do
a good Job at what you have sent me here to do.

To everyone, add your own « STRENGTHS » to this list.
Use it and share it with others. May you all gain the
strength you need.

Be A Family
A Meditation by Bl. Mother Teresa of Calcutta

You are to be a family, to be that presence of Christ to each other. God
has sent the family to be His Love. Love each other tenderly as Jesus loves
each one of you.

Jesus is always there...
to love
to share
to be the joy of our life.
Jesus' love for us is unconditional
tender
forgiving
complete.
Just allow people to see Jesus in you
to see how you pray
to see how you lead a pure life
to see how you deal with your family
to see how much peace is in your family.

Thoughtfulness is the beginning of great sanctity. If you learn this art of
being thoughtful, you will become more Christ like, for His Heart was meek,
and He always thought of the needs of others. If we also have that kind of
thoughtfulness for each other, our homes would really become the abode of
God most high.

May you all have a very blessed and positive day tomorrow - God is with you
wherever you go and in whatever you do! Praise Him forever!
