Cornea Eye Problem

My sister is in a lot of pain caused by a cornea tear & also erosion of the cornea. The doctor has tried a couple different things this past month & it is not healing. He said he may have to do a "diamond burr" procedure which he said would be very painful for a few days. I can't seem to find much info about this on the internet. Has any of you out there ever had this done or maybe know someone who has? I would appreciate anything you can tell me.
