Just a heads up.

The maker of Sara Lee and several other brands of bread is recalling certain products sold in 11 states, after consumers found small pieces of glass on the outside of the bread.

Bimbo Bakeries USA issued a voluntary recall on Aug. 26 amid concerns that “fragments of glass caused by a broken light bulb at one of its bakeries” contaminated certain bread products.

The recall covers several Sara Lee products, Nature's Harvest, Great Value brands, Kroger, L'Oven Fresh, and Bimbo brands. The "best buy" dates on the products range from Aug. 29 to Sept. 1, according to a Bimbo Bakeries USA statement.

The recall impacts Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.

Re: Bread Recall

[ Edited ]

Thanks for the list, bette!  I get Sara Lee 45 calorie bread, I don't see it there but I think I will toss it anyway.

Oh I'm glad I posted then. I like Sara Lee and the Natures Own Honey Wheat. My state is not on the list, but I think I will buy something different for the next few weeks, just in case.

L'Oven is on the list, I buy this brand from ALdi's but it's the wheat they recalled.  We eat the better white bread that they make. ANd our loaf was dated end of August, not the date they recalled.

That's good PD. I had some of what's on the list, but I only had the 2 heels and one slice left, so no big deal. I just don't like to take any chances on any recall. Those initial lists sometimes get things added. Call me parnoid, LOL.

BIMBO has shipped much of it's manutacturing over to the country south of the border.  Yes, it's no longer made here.  Bimbo America is just an office here but it's entirely owned by a foreign country and it shows in the product.  An acquaintance worked there and they are solely into profit and not quality.   Bread loaves come with spider webs, grit, etc.

Don't buy that brand.

Hope everybody stays safe.

I cannot help but wonder why they named their bakery 'Bimbo'.   That just struck me as odd.  Smiley Happy

I hardly ever eat bread anymore because of my esophagus situation.  But I buy bread each week for the birdies.  They like the whole grain ones with lots of seeds and nuts in them.  Smiley Happy  It's more expensive but one loaf lasts me about a week and a half.  Good thing for Lock & Lock!
