cherry, I read that too!  It was a page turner, for sure.  I found it riveting, but did feel a bit queasy about all the revelations Maria made about their family. No doubt there was a lot of anger there, justifiably.  But I think she was very good to her mother when she was dying and a recluse, I think in Paris...
