Apple iPad vs. Google Nexus

My husband is going to get me a tablet for Christmas. The only thing I'm sure about is that I want a 10 inch screen. Our daughters have tablets. One has an iPad and one has a Nexus. Both love their tablet. I have played around a bit on each tablet. I didn't see much if any difference. If you were going to buy a 10 inch tablet, which would it be?
