Simple ideas for a children's Harry Potter Club?

We are starting a  Harry Potter book club for 8-10 year olds and I wonder if anyone has ideas or have seen a  simple activitiy(snacks, games, discussions) that has been successful.  We won't have access to cooking. We are also working on a slim budgetSmiley Happy

Book clubs usually mean everyone reads the same volume in anticipation of a club meeting to discuss it. When the club members finish that book, borrow the DVD from the library and show the HP movie for that one. Have a crafts day where the kids draw or sculpt their favorite character. Have a drama session where kids act out their favorite scenes. Have a trivia contest asking kids to come up with details from the book they just read:  name the character who..., what is the spell called that does this ..., what is Harry's owl named? Prize could be a cupcake or HP memento from a party store.

I think theres plenty of guidelines online to give to give your book club some energy.  Google "Harry Potter Book Club" or "Harry Potter party activities". Creativity is what counts. You won't need a big budget as long as every reader can get a chance to enjoy the book and share their thoughts.

Have fun.  That book club is fine idea.

Amazon has different HP activities -  from a cookbook to a science project to coloring books to a quidditch kit.  something there may suit - or trigger a DIY idea.

maybe they'd like to start making their own HP trivia game as they read through the books. they can quiz each other with entries and vote on the best to include in the game.  that will reinforce their reading skills, challenge them to fully understand the material and have some fun.
