Two books come immediately to mind when I think about books which had mind-blowing twists at the very end.  I can still remember where I was when the 'bombs' dropped on me while I listened to the endings years ago!

The Last Time They Met by Anita Shreve

and

Defending Jacob by William Landay

@rustee nice topic!  I am hardly ever surprised at endings.  But the book that had surprise twists and turns all the way through (for me ) was The Kind Worth Killing.  Loved that book.

I just read 2 Kindle books by the same author, Emmy C. Haines, that had endings that surprised me: RADIO SHRINK and UNDER THE BREAK-UP BRIDGE.

One of my top ten all-time favorite books.  The movie tried hard but didn't come close.  Brilliant book and sadly, will remain relevant.

"The Elegance of the Hedgehog" by Muriel Barbery.  Another one of my favorite books.  The ending is definitely mind-blowing.

The Life of Pi by Yann Martel. Unfortunately, it's one of those books where the beginning the fantastic, the end really makes you question everything, but the middle just drags on and on forever.
